Latino Religious Politics in a Moment of Danger

On November 2, 2023, the Boniuk Institute’s Religion and Public Life Program welcomed Felipe Hinojosa, a professor of history at Baylor University, to a Religious and Civic Leaders Gathering to discuss his work on Latino religious politics.

2023 Religious Leader Track

The Boniuk Institute partnered with the Religious Research Association (RRA) to launch the inaugural Religious Leader Track at the annual RRA + Society for the Scientific Study of Religion (SSSR) meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah. Designed specifically for clergy, faith leaders, and religious practitioners, the program translated leading social scientific research on religion into practical insights for ministry, congregational leadership, and community engagement. Sessions explored topics including faith in the workplace, the lasting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on religious communities, religious liberty, and other contemporary challenges facing congregations. By bringing together scholars and practitioners, the Religious Leader Track fostered meaningful dialogue between academic research and lived religious experience, equipping participants with evidence-based perspectives to strengthen leadership and serve their communities more effectively.

Religious Leaders Gather to Learn from Current Research

On October 20, 2023, scholars from the Boniuk Institute partnered with the Religious Research Association (RRA) to present the Religious Leader Track at the annual RRA + SSSR (Society for the Scientific Study of Religion) annual meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Future of Religious Pluralism

On the evening of October 4, 2023, the Boniuk Institute hosted a special event: The Future of Religious Pluralism: Setting an agenda for the next 10 years of research. This event was a celebration of the Institute’s past decade of work and the launch of our 10-year vision to understand the conditions that lead to religious discrimination and conflict and to promote religious tolerance both locally and globally.
