The thoughts and actions of many Americans are guided by their religious beliefs. Despite a myriad of religious differences, and regardless of race, creed, or income, they also share many of the same fundamental concerns, including health, safety, education, etc.
With the support of an Interfaith Leadership and Religious Literacy grant from the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations, the Boniuk Institute is undertaking the Revitalizing Interfaith Leadership in Houston and Beyond project in its hometown of Houston, Texas, to examine the impact of political tensions, COVID-19, and local challenges on interfaith leadership and collaboration to solve shared social problems.
An advisory council, comprised of Houston-area religious leaders from a variety of faith traditions, are aiding the Institute researchers to understand the concerns of religious communities and how they communicate and interact with each other in response to these concerns.
Findings from this project will be used to develop resources that will assist religious leaders to build bridges across differences and to increase interreligious cooperation towards common goals.
