2024 Religious Leader Track

The second annual Religious Leader Track at the joint Society for the Scientific Study of Religion (SSSR) and Religious Research Association (RRA) Annual Meeting translated leading social scientific research on religion into practical insights for attending clergy, faith leaders, nonprofit professionals, and religious practitioners. Scholars presented research on topics including race and congregations, faith and the workplace, religion and mental health, medicine, and clergy well-being, providing participants with evidence-based perspectives on some of the most pressing issues facing religious communities today. Programming also included a special lecture from Boniuk Institute Director and RRA President Elaine Howard Ecklund, who spoke about the importance of collaboration between scholars and religious leaders. She highlighted how partnerships between researchers and faith communities improve public scholarship, strengthen research relevance, and equip religious leaders with accessible, research-informed resources to better serve their congregations and communities.
