The Boniuk Institute and the Religion and Public Life Center bring scholars together through Scholars Meetings, a multi-disciplinary forum for exploring one deceptively simple question: What can we learn when religion is a part of the question? Faculty facilitators BI director Elaine Howard Ecklund and RPLC director Todd Ferguson convene researchers to share current work, test ideas, and engage with colleagues approaching religion from different disciplinary and methodological perspectives.
The meetings range widely in subject and approach. What connects the research and the people in the room is not a particular discipline or topic, but an interest in religion as a lens for understanding the world. Religion shapes how people form identities, make meaning, navigate institutions, engage with science or politics, or respond to social change.
Scholars Meetings welcome researchers at all stages of their careers and across a range of roles, from graduate students and postdoctoral scholars to junior faculty, established researchers, and research-oriented professionals.
Community participants are welcome to join remotely.
