Houston is one of the most religiously diverse cities in the United States. At the same time, communities across the region face complex challenges that no single organization, congregation, or leader can address alone. How can religious, nonprofit, and community leaders work across lines of difference to build trust, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful change?
On November 5, 2026, the Boniuk Institute will host Houston-area religious, community, and nonprofit leaders to participate in a practical training workshop on developing and sustaining multifaith collaborative initiatives.
Grounded in findings from the Houston Religious Leadership Project, a multi-year study of religious leadership, interfaith engagement, and approaches to religious diversity in Greater Houston, this workshop translates research into action. Participants will explore what makes interfaith and multifaith partnerships successful, identify common challenges that can hinder collaboration, and learn evidence-based strategies for building durable relationships across religious and cultural differences.
Designed for both experienced and emerging leaders, the workshop will provide opportunities to connect with peers form diverse backgrounds, examine real-world case studies, and develop practical tools for addressing issues of shared concern in their communities. Whether your focus is education, public health, poverty, civic engagement, disaster response, youth development, or another area of community life, the skills and insights gained through this training can help strengthen your capacity to work collaboratively for the common good.
Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of Houston's religious landscape, new connections across faith and community sectors, and actionable strategies for launching or strengthening collaborative initiatives in their own contexts.
