The first half of the quest features visits to a series of
selected sacred sites throughout greater Houston. Most of these visits involve
observing worship services in process.
The second half of the quest featured a capstone art and service
project to enhance the Prayer Garden of the Mt. Carmel Church in Freedman’s
Town (in Houston’s 4th Ward). With the help of public artist Regiald C. Adams, students created four mosaic benches and designed a labyrinth. After the conclusion of SSQ, many participants and their families collaborated with over 100 community members to create and install the labyrinth. The labyrinth and benches are now the focal point of the Prayer Garden.
